not want the health reform to pass in the first place. they didn't want president obama and the democrats to have a legislative win. they didn't like the policy itself. but now the policy itself is in effect. and it means that millions of americans now can get health insurance who could not get it in the past. and millions of americans who did have health insurance in the past should have better and more affordable choices for their coverage. and all the talking about it in washington, if you put it aside, really, the real question is whether this much more under the radar political effort in the states can effectively stop americans from getting insurance that they might really like if only they knew how to do it. joining us, radio host on msn, michael spent eight weeks trying to find insurance options for himself through healthcare.gov before it finally worked this week. michael, great to see you, thank you for joining us. >> thank you, rachel for having me. >> so you had a miserable eight weeks, early experience trying to get through the federal exchange. but now it has worked for you,

after thanksgiving, president obama and first lady michelle obama went to visit him and the activities on the national mall where they had been without food for 20 days. he said he supported their cause, he believed it was not a matter of if but when, they would finally take a vote on immigration, but he also voiced concern for the health of the people that had been fasting for so long. he suggested they take a break for their own health, let somebody else fast next. today, he did that after 22 days without food, he broke his fast. he passed it on to senator robert kennedy's grandson, congressman joe kennedy of massachusetts. he will join with the others in fasting for 24 hours and he will pass it on to others. this is part of an emotional and intense effort to try to push ut house to take on immigration reform. this is erica who came here from mexico when she was a child. she was on the cover of "time" magazine. earlier this year her mother and brother were taken from their home at 9:00 p.m. during a night raid. she posted this video online the night that it happened. antivity asked p

of obama care, right, and who famously, the citizens of kentucky have reaped the benefit. kentucky now leads the nation in new sign-ups for health insurance, and that would be huge anywhere. it is a particularly huge deal for a state whose population is as unhealthful as kentucky's is. i don't mean any offense by it, but kentucky's population ranks at the bottom or toward the bottom of the nation's health ratings in lots and lots and lots of different categories, and kentucky has a lot of uninsured people. and it's the exact same deal two states over in mississippi, but in these two states, in the same part of the country, with the same health problems in their populations and a lot of the same challenges, one of them, kentucky, is now best in the nation in terms of people getting health insurance, and one of them, mississippi, is now worst in the nation, and not because they wouldn't know how to fix their problem. they knew how to fix their problem, but they stopped fixing it. mississippi has enrolled a smaller percentage of its population than any other state in the nation. they do n
